Ameland was made for cycling. The island has over 100 kilometres of cycle paths, is wonderfully flat and traffic is calm. Bring your own bike along affordably on the Wagenborg ferry, or rent one in Hollum.
De Vrijheid also comes with two electric bikes, both fitted with a child seat. From the house you cycle into the dunes, to the beach or into the village within minutes, and at night the bikes go safely into the shed.

De Vrijheid comes with two electric bikes that you are free to use during your stay. Both have a child seat, so the little ones ride along too.
At De Vrijheid you park the bikes dry and safe in the shed on the property at night. The next morning you simply hop back on.
From Hollum you cycle straight into the most beautiful routes: to the lighthouse, through the dunes or right across the island.

The classic loop: in about 45 kilometres you cycle around the entire island, from Hollum via the villages to Buren and back along the dunes.

The easiest way to explore Ameland is the cycling junction network: signs show the way and you plan your own route. Start against the wind, then cycle back home with the wind at your back.
Want to rent extra bikes? Book ahead in high season, because e-bikes especially are popular. The rental companies in Hollum often even deliver the bikes to the house.
