The Wadden Island

Welcome to
Ameland

Ameland is one of the five inhabited Wadden Islands, located between Terschelling and Schiermonnikoog. With its 27 kilometres of beautiful sandy beaches, vast dune landscapes and four characteristic villages, Ameland is a paradise for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity.

The island is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea — a unique natural area that is internationally recognised for its exceptional flora and fauna. The Wadden Sea is one of the most important wetlands in the world and provides habitat for millions of migratory birds.

Whether you come for the peace, the nature, the culture or the activities — Ameland has something for everyone. From mudflat walking and cycling to beach strolls and cosy terraces in the villages.
